CLITHEROE 60K WALK
The Clitheroe 60K walk is a very scenic and challenging long distance circular walk over Longridge Fell, Pendle Hill and skirting Grindleton Fell including nearly 5000ft of ascent, a similar height gain to that of the better known Yorkshire Dales 3 Peaks Walk.
It was devised by Eddie Ross of Clitheroe Group as a permanent commemoration of the Ramblers Association 60th Jubilee. The Clitheroe 60K was officially opened by the Mayor of the Ribble Valley, Councillor Kate Hodkinson on 15th April 1995. Clitheroe Town Crier, Roland Hailwood, also announced the inaugral walk which was completed over 2 days of the Easter weekend in 1995 by 20 members of Clitheroe Group with a further 10 members completeing one of the sections.

There was obviously some newspaper coverage of the event, click the following thumbnails for a larger version.

Route Cards and Certificates of Achievement are available from Clitheroe Information Centre and Clitheroe Interchange. The route is listed in the Long Distance Walkers Association handbook. It may be completed in one day or alternatively it can be spread over as many days as suit individual walkers.
An original Routecard and Certificate - again click the thumbnail for a larger version. (Please do not use this route version as some things may have changed!)
