WELCOME to the CLITHEROE RAMBLERS WEBSITE!!
ABOUT US
Clitheroe Ramblers cover the heart of the Ribble Valley, with the Forest of Bowland AONB on our doorstep, both east and west! The Yorkshire Dales, Arnside and Silverdale and the Pennines are all only a short distance away and are frequently visited.
Clitheroe Ramblers are a very active and friendly Group, have over 350 members, over 120 walks per year and are fortunate in having over 50 leaders. We are always delighted to welcome new members.
Clitheroe Ramblers programme includes:
- Weekend Walks are every Saturday or Sunday, both locally and further afield. Usually 10 miles, occasionally more or less but shown on the programme and the website.
- Tuesday Walks are every 1st and 3rd Tuesday, approx. 8 miles at a more leisurely pace, both in the Ribble Valley and beyond. On every 2nd and 4th Tuesday there is a more local afternoon walk of 4 or 5 miles.
- Wednesday Evening Walks are from April to September and are about 4 or 5 miles, usually starting from a local village. These are very popular, particularly for newcomers, and give all an opportunity to enjoy long, light, summer evenings and perhaps a drink afterwards.
Clitheroe Ramblers are an integral part of the Ramblers and we undertake a very high standard of footpath and stile inspection as well as contributing to the other aims of the Ramblers which includes encouraging walking and protecting the countryside. With the local recent creation of more access in open country, mainly thanks to the RA and Groups like Clitheroe Ramblers, new and interesting walks are waiting to be explored.
Our members also take part in a variety of social events.
