14th June 2011
On the 8th of June we had a very enjoyable evening with Bowland and Pennine Mountain Rescue at their premises at Smelt Mill in the Trough of Bowland. None of us had appreciated the amount of "low level" search and rescue incidents they actually get involved in, along with the fell and mountain aspect of their work. We were given a demonstration of some of their equipment, with very impressive items of kit being used. They showed us, and allowed us to be involved in, a training exercise and we will certainly visit them again, at their other premises, as we all want to see their Land Rovers which have an exceptionally high level of equipment on board.

As they receive no official funding, and rely purely on donations, it must be a constant struggle to ensure that sufficient funds are available Use the link above to go to their website which makes for very interesting reading!!
